Bullet's Story

Magic Bullet Fund

There are hundreds, possibly thousands of manufacturers and distributors of supplements that claim to fight cancer. There are just as many web sites selling such items. Most have only anecdotal evidence of their efficacy with testimonials from users, veterinarians and/or physicians attesting to the supplement's cancer-fighting properties.

Which do and which don't actually fight cancer? No one knows. Read up on as many as you can and ask your holistic vet for an opinion on those that sound to you as though they are "for real." Most likely, some do fight cancer. After all, most of the pharmaceuticals being developed for this purpose (for any purpose) are made from herbs and other natural substances. They aren't pulled out of the air or imported from Jupiter!  What we don't know as yet is which ones work, how well and in what dosages.

"125 Fake Cancer 'Cures' that Consumers Should Avoid."

* CLICK HERE to read a news release from the FDA in June 2008. Some of these products are produced / distributed by firms other than the firm listed. It's unclear if other forumlations are not considered by the FDA to be "fake," or if the other firms simply do not make the claim that the product cures cancer.

Most supplements are available through various companies or distributors. The prices vary widely and the quality may vary as well. When you find a supplement that you want to give your dog, type it into a search engine and do some price shopping, keeping in mind that some products are organic or natural-made and others are not and that some have better quality control than others.

Here are a few resources to start you off on your research.

"I credit you and your book Laurie, for helping me feel like there was something constructive that I could do to participate in Nell's health care after her diagnosis.
I will always be grateful to you and Bullet for that!"

Dear Laurie,

I just received your book and read it in one sitting....with a box of tissues by my side. My dear friend Nell, a 6 year old English Setter, has just had surgery to remove a mast cell tumor and the wound is not healing - amputation may be our next option.

I wanted to let you know how helpful your book is, as a tool for enpowerment and as a reference guide.

Thank you again for allowing your experience with Bullet to touch so many!

Dear Laurie,

It has b
een about two years since I first emailed to thank you for the wonderful information I found in your book. I am delighted to report that Nell is doing great and continues to enjoy life. Nell remains on Bullet's Cancer Diet and is most certainly thriving with lots of energy, a beautiful coat and to my delight she is cancer free at this time.

As a canine massage practitioner and teacher, I come in contact with far too many people who are faced with the diagnosis of canine cancer. Knowing that initial feeling of helplessness, I am always delighted to share your book. From my clients and Veterinarians as well, I always receive the same thankful response to the overview of information and empowerment you relay. My copy remains in my library for reference and as a reminder.

Not today
and not without a fight!
